CERTIFICATE How do I get my certificate? When you get the last email of your course you also receive a seperate email that contains a link. Click the link to reveal your certificate and print off. The certificate automatically has your course name and the name you registered with on it. This is a completion certificate and not a nationally accredited award, as there are no exams or tests. |
COURSE
I registered but have not got my course? Courses do not appear instantly. This is an automated system and it can take up to 24 hours for the first lesson to reach your email in box. You should then receive one every day until completion.
Are there any tests? There are some tests within some courses to help you check you have understood the lesson and to advance your skills. These are all self assessment or self development. You do not have to submit any tests or exams to us.
How long is a course? You can see how long a course is by the number of lessons on the course page - - average is 8 days to receive every lesson. By saving the emails you can take as long as you like to learn as we do not expect you to absorb everything in a short space of time. Individual lessons are usually a maximum of 3 x A4 pages.
How many courses can I register for? You can register for as many courses as you wish to - there is no limit.
How often do you add new courses? Over the last two years we have added 100 new courses each year (2 a week)
Who owns or writes the courses? The courses are written by a variety of experts based on generic and researched information in their area. Each course reflects an authors style and are not necessarily our views. Where there is a major source this is acknowledged and credited, but generally as we believe most of our information to be generic we do not provide accreditations as to research sources.
CUSTOMERS
Who can use the site? Anyone, anywhere in the world can freely use the site, its courses and other web links. Anyone can register for a course. Most courses tackle subjects that have no national boundaries although there is a UK basis for most of the work.
FINANCE
What does it cost? There are no charges for anything on emailcollege. All the courses are free and you can take as many as you like. There are no add on sales.
FORMAT
There are no pictures on my email? The technology we use does not enable us to transmit images on our emails.
The print is all scrunched up? The lessons are perfectly formatted with paragraphs, different fonts, and spacing. Unfortunately your email system can lose this formatting - hence it being scrunched up. You simply have to space out the lesson yourself to make it easier to read, which we are told helps your understanding of the lesson.
INFORMATION
What happens with my name? Your name is used solely for one purpose - whatever name you use to register with is the name that automatically goes on your certificate - nothing else.
What happens to the information? We aggregate the information as statistics (for example 37,000 courses have been completed in 2007/08). This proves whether it is worth us continuing and is used by us to see who we are serving. We never give any details about you to anyone and never sell on or provide your email address to anyone. That is why there are no adverts on the site, save for other free services.
REGISTRATION
Why / How do you use my name? Your name is used solely for one purpose - whatever name you use to register with is the name that automatically goes on your certificate - nothing else. So it is best to use your own full name or name you are happy to see in print and be known by via our certificate.
Why do you need the registration details? We need to prove to our backers that we have real "students". That there is wide UK coverage, with an international audience from a range of age / social groups. Without this information (aggregrated as mass statistics) we could not provide the site and its services for free.
What is a postcode? We need to be able to prove where our "students" come from and do this by using the UK postcode. If you are not resident in the UK, use your country initials or zip code to register or use country initials plus 123.
I cannot get it to register me? Make sure you have all the details correct If a non UK resident put in your country's initials or abbreviated version as a postcode or your zip code. Courses are for anyone worldwide. The verification code can sometimes be difficult to read - please persist, remember it changes every time you register.
I registered but have not got my course? Courses do not appear instantly. This is an automated system and it can take up to 24 hours for the first lesson to reach your email in box. You should then receive one every day until completion.
